Water company Anglian Water will join principal stage partner Adnams as a supporting partner of Stage Six of Britain’s biggest professional cycle race, which comes to Suffolk on Friday 8 September.

Anglian WaterThis year will mark the first time that the OVO Energy Tour of Britain completes a stage entirely within Suffolk, starting in Newmarket and traveling east towards the coast, covering a distance of 183km, to finish in Aldeburgh.

Ciaran Nelson, Head of Strategic Communications at Anglian Water, said: “It’s great to have the chance to partner with the Tour of Britain to help celebrate such a high profile event coming to our region. We have an ambition to put water at the heart of every community in the East, and events like this give us the chance to tell people a little more about us, hear more about what matters to them, and celebrate everything that’s great about Suffolk.”

Suffolk Coastal will host the stage finish in Aldeburgh in partnership with Suffolk County Council who have brought the Stage to Suffolk.

Councillor TJ Haworth-Culf, cabinet member for Customers, Communities and Leisure at Suffolk Coastal District Council, said: “Excitement is really building in the county for the arrival of the Tour this September and we’re pleased to see Anglian Water as a supporting partner of the Suffolk Stage.

“Anglian Water’s support links with our business plan’s ambitions to build on the success of the Women’s Tour to inspire more people to get involved in sport and encourage healthy living and we look forward to working together with them.”

Councillor Tony Goldson, Cabinet Member for Health at Suffolk County Council, said: “We are delighted that Anglian Water have joined us as a supporting partner for this year’s stage of the Tour of Britain in Suffolk.

“Partnership working with businesses to secure events of the stature of the Tour of Britain is very important and supports our ambitions to become the most active county in England.”

Tour of Britain Commercial Director, Alastair Grant said “We are delighted to welcome Anglian Water as partners to this September’s Suffolk stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain with their support showing how the whole region is getting behind Stage Six.”
