06/07/2010 – Full speed ahead for 2010

Hi everyone!

Apologies for the long break between blogs, but rest assured that now we're firmly into the summer we'll be blogging more often in the build up to The Tour of Britain. In fact there are just ten weeks to go until The Tour gets underway with Stage One from Rochdale to Blackpool, so preparations are in full swing.

While we may have been quiet on the blogging front, it's been all action on the cycling front. The Halfords Tour Series once again brought exciting town and city centre racing to a High Street near you, or even into your living room thanks to the excellent highlights on ITV4.

And then the weekend just gone we launched The Great Tour on its epic 6,600 kilometre journey around the coastline of Great Britain, all in aid of Caravan and The Prostate Cancer Charity. If you want to find out more about the route The Great Tour takes, then log onto www.thegreattour.org

On The Tour of Britain front it is all go at Race HQ! You'll shortly be able to find out more about Volunteering to help out at this year's Tour of Britain while the sections of the website about the Route, Teams and the Media will all be updated in the coming weeks.

Then at the end of August the Race Manual will also go online, providing you with all the timings and route information you'll need to spectate at this year's Tour.

And of course we couldn't finish the blog without a mention of the Tour de France. Several of the teams taking part will be in action in Britain in September, but for an even closer link to The Tour of Britain, keep track of BBC 5Live's TdF coverage and you'll hear the thoughts of expert summariser and ToB Route Director Graham Jones.

Until the next blog!
