"Peebles for pleasure" as visitors say, the Borders town is located within an area of outstanding beauty straddling the majestic River Tweed, the world famous salmon fishing river.

A Royal Burgh since 1152 and the rule of King David I, Peebles has for many years been a market town cherished by locals and visitors alike – it has something for everyone, from cycling to shopping, award winning restaurants and outstanding accommodation. Peebles is ranked as the top independent retailing town in Scotland.

The start of the Scottish stage will take place in the High Street, around the alleyways and medieval closes and walkways along the River Tweed. The clock will start at the multi-award winning, colour coded mountain bike trail at Glentress Forest which is the first of two world-class 7stanes courses in the Scottish Borders – and the region's no.1 tourist attraction.
