Motorpoint - Marshalls Pasta

The Staffordshire based team prepare for their third Tour of Britain, this year under their new title of Motorpoint – Marshalls Pasta. In each of the previous two Tours Phil Griffiths’ team have placed a rider in the top ten overall, but that man was Russell Downing who is now with Team Sky, so Team Manager Keith Lambert will be looking for someone else to step up to the plate.M

Next best finisher in 2009 was the evergreen Malcolm Elliott who took 16th overall as well as several top ten stage finishes, but can he repeat the performance a year on?

Behind Elliott, Motorpoint – Marshalls Pasta have a quintet of young Brits who’ll all be vying for a place in The Tour of Britain team. World and Olympic Champion Ed Clancy is an excellent sprinter from a small group, while Olympic Bronze medallist Steven Burke is sure to want to make his Tour debut as Stage One passes close to his home town of Colne in Lancashire.

Ian Bibby is another Motorpoint rider who has been impressing in the sprints this year and who’ll hope to impress in his native North West on Stage One, while Jonny McEvoy and top pursuiter Andy Tennant are two of the other young Brits, both of whom have previous Tour experience.

Based just outside Stoke, Stage Two around Stoke-on-Trent and the Staffordshire Moorlands will once again be the focus of their attentions.
