Sky Professional Cycling Team

Britain's sole UCI World Tour team will be making their second appearance in their home Tour, and looking to go one better than in 2010 when Greg Henderson won a stage and finished second overall, also taking The Prostate Cancer Charity Points Jersey.

The team are rapidly approaching 30 wins in UCI events so far in 2011, the biggest of which was Bradley Wiggins' overall win at the Criterium du Dauphine in June. The British Road Race Champion's Tour de France crash means he'll miss The Tour of Britain in favour of the Vuelta a Espana.

Sky's strength in depth means that their line-up for their home Tour is still likely to be one of the strongest, with Olympic Gold medallist and former British Champion Geraint Thomas and Tour of Britain stage winner Ben Swift leading the squad.

The team also boast several rising British stars, including time trial specialist Alex Dowsett, who took his first professional win at the Tour du Poitou in August, and Peter Kennaugh, who looks set to follow in the wheel tracks of fellow Manx rider Mark Cavendish.

Sky also boast several experienced Brits like Russell Downing, Jeremy Hunt and Steve Cummings, the latter of whom is still the best British performer at The Tour of Britain thanks to his runners-up spot in 2008.

Among Sky's foreign contingent are several riders with impressive Tour of Britain pedigree, including 2009 winner Edvald Boasson Hagen, stage winners Chris Sutton and Greg Henderson and double top ten overall finisher Micheal Rogers.
