Leopard Trek
The world’s number one team make their Tour of Britain debut this September in their first season, although many of their riders will be familiar to British spectators from the Tour de France or visits to the UK’s national tour with former teams.
Andy Schleck isn’t the only Tour of Britain jersey winner in the team, as Dane Martin Pedersen won the 2006 edition of The Tour and could be one of the few former champions in the 2011 field.
The younger Schleck brother has gone on to be a leading Tour de France contender since winning the King of the Mountains jersey at the 2006 Tour of Britain, while Tour de France stage winner Frank Schleck also rides for the squad.
Other Grand Tour stage winners include Linus Gerdemann, Stuart O’Grady, Jens Voigt, Daniele Bennati and time trial supremo Fabian Cancellara.
A multitude of nationalities represent Leopard Trek, including Italians Davide Vigano and Giacomo Nizzolo, Australian’s O’Grady and Will Clarke and a multitude of Germans, including the aforementioned Gerdemann, Voigt and Dominic Klemme.
The team have enjoyed a number of podium finishes so far in 2011, including at many of the major Classics and the Tour de France, so don’t be surprised to see Leopard Trek make a successful Tour of Britain debut.
