At last week’s Aviva announcement in Piccadilly Circus we caught up with Olympic Champion Chris Boardman for five minutes to share his thoughts about the Tour of Britain and it’s importance for cycling in the UK.

Last week saw the Women's Tour and Tour of Britain take over Piccadilly Circus in the company of Olympic Champions Dani King and Chris Boardman to officially launch the Aviva sponsorship of Britain's leading men and women's race.

We spoke to Chris Boardman about the Tour of Britain, and it's importance as British Cycling's premier cycling event and the UK's highest ranked race, with Chris describing the race as "a monument of the British sporting calendar" and talking about the importance of the TV pictures in showcasing the British countryside to over 140 countries during the 2014 race.

You can also see his views on the resurgence of the Hour Record here, and don't forget to also check out our video interview with Dani King as she looks ahead to racing in the Aviva Women's Tour, 17-21 June 2015.

Aviva are also sponsors of the Aviva Tour Ride, the official sportive of the Tour of Britain, on Sunday 4 October. Entries are open now, costing just £26, with a choice of 40, 75 and 100-mile routes. To enter, click here.
