Burges Salmon will support the OVO Energy Tour of Britain when the prestigious event comes to Bristol on Tuesday 4 September.

Bristol will form Stage Three of the eight-day Tour, which will cover 128 kilometres in a short and sharp stage that both starts and finishes at Ladies Mile on the Downs. It will get underway at 11.30am, finishing at approximately 2.30pm, and will take in some of the most scenic parts of Bristol and North Somerset, climbing Cheddar Gorge in the Mendip Hills while also crossing the Clifton Suspension Bridge twice.

Burges Salmon Senior Partner Chris Seaton says: “Highlighting our focus at the firm on the importance of wellbeing and working with local schools, we will be supporting the race in a number of ways; by providing volunteers to support the charity cycle amnesty and sponsoring various parts of Stage Three.

“In addition to the clear benefits that cycling has for wellbeing, there are also 32 schools on this year’s route. This highlights how important it is for us to support the race, helping to promote cycling within pupils’ curriculum and get them to start the new academic year with cycling at the front of their minds.”

The event will give tens of thousands of fans the opportunity to see the world’s best teams and riders in Bristol, including Tour de France champion Geraint Thomas and his Team Sky team-mate Chris Froome.

Fans from across the West of England are being encouraged to head to the Start/Finish village on Clifton Down, where they will have the opportunity to follow the action via a big screen in the Tour Village, as well as having the chance to meet and interact with official sponsors, and try out the latest in eBike technology on a special test track.

Heath Harvey, Chief Executive of race organisers SweetSpot Group, added: “We are pleased to welcome Burges Salmon on board as supporters of the Bristol stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain next month. The reception to the stage from the Bristol and West of England business community has been fantastic so to be able to confirm the support of a company of the stature of Burges Salmon is further great news.

“Burges Salmon is another company that supports cycling, particularly through its internal Bike User Group for its people, and we look forward to welcoming them to the event.”

The OVO Energy Tour of Britain is British Cycling’s premier road cycling event, giving cycling fans the opportunity to see the world’s best teams and riders competing on their doorstep, taking place between Sunday 2 and Sunday 9 September 2018.
