With less than 50-days to go to the first ever Cheltenham Festival of Cycling, festival organisers have released a business opportunities toolkit to ‘make Cheltenham zing!’ The Cheltenham Festival of Cycling featuring the OVO Energy Tour of Britain Stage Seven takes place on Saturday 9 September and features a series of town-wide initiatives to enjoy, educate, try and watch.

The toolkit provides businesses and individuals the opportunity to engage with a number of free initiatives, buy some of the affordable business benefits on offer such as banners and lamppost pennants or alternatively entertain clients and VIP guests at our exclusive village on Imperial Square.

Councillor Rowena Hay, cabinet member for finance says,

“This is a fantastic opportunity for Cheltenham and we want to ensure that the town comes alive for the day. We also want to enable our local businesses and communities benefit from this event, not only on the day itself but post-event through the legacy plans in place. From housing one of our lime green bikes to coordinating window displays there really are some inexpensive but effective ways to get involved.”

There are a number of activities and events happening throughout the day, with a dedicated Family Zone at Pittville Park, a Street Fair on the Promenade and then the Race Village and finish line at Imperial Gardens.

The toolkit can be found on the website here.

About Cheltenham Festival of Cycling
On Saturday September 9th, 120 elite cyclists will be racing through Cheltenham Town Centre, in a bid to finish first in the penultimate stage of the Tour of Britain. Starting in Hemel Hempstead before touring much of The Cotswolds, Stage Seven of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain will culminate in a tough climb up the Skoda Cleeve Hill stretch, before skirting the Racecourse, freewheeling through Pittville Park, zipping down Albion Street, crossing the pedestrian area of the Promenade, to finish at Imperial Gardens in our historic town centre.

Organised by Cheltenham Borough Council, Stage seven of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain is just one of the events taking place in a much wider celebration of cycling, which will see the town centre transformed with a festival vibe once more. With a focus on getting and staying active, residents and visitors alike can enjoy an active kids zone at Pittville Park, a demonstration zone featuring a stunt bike demonstration and a try-it-yourself velodrome, plus a cycling supplier zone where you can test out the latest bikes, enjoy exclusive on the day discounts and much more.
