One of the highlights of the race is seeing thousands of schoolchildren line the route of each stage. We want to inspire youngsters the length and breadth of Great Britain to lead an active and healthy lifestyle – be it on two wheels or not.
Helped by our official mascot ToBi, we work with local authorities and schools in England, Wales and Scotland to engage children and get them excited for the race’s visit.
Below are just a few ways to get your school involved with Britain’s leading stage race.
Register below to receive our schools’ pack, containing everything you need to know to get your school involved and ready for the race.
You can watch anywhere along each stage.
Our handy interactive maps of each stage (available in the summer) can help schools plan a day out to watch the action.
You can use our race timetables (available in the summer) so you know exactly when the peloton is expected to pass you! Please check this regularly as it can change close to race day.
There are numerous ways for schools to get involved with the Tour of Britain!
–> Allow pupils to get creative by giving them the opportunity to design cycling jerseys, bunting, flags, banners and/or posters to be displayed ahead of/on the day of the race’s visit.
–> Enhance their geographical knowledge: why not ask pupils to locate towns, cities and famous landmarks visited by the Tour of Britain on a map of the UK?
–> Get pupils to research Britain’s most famous riders to inspire youngsters and give them positive role models.
–> Promote the health and lifestyle benefits of cycling: why not look into riders’ diets and show how easily they can be transferred into everyday life?
–> Why not let children ride into school one race day? Or hold special PE classes that involve bikes?
–> Most importantly, check out our stages pages to download our daily timetables (ETAs) and plan your day!
