On Tuesday 6 September, Stage 3 of the Tour of Britain cycle race will come through the centre of Holmes Chapel in Cheshire between 12pm and 1pm, with the whole town gearing up to welcome Britain’s biggest bike race.

Whether you are a die-hard cycling fan or simply looking for a fun day out with the family you will love the Holmes Chapel Tour of Britain Fanzone.

Geographically located half way between Congleton (stage start) and Tatton Park, Knutsford (stage finish), Holmes Chapel will be the perfect place to stop by mid-stage and watch the peloton rush by. With 40-miles raced and over 70 still to go, legs will be fresh and tempo will be high.

The local not-for-profit business group, Junction 18, has been working closely with Holmes Chapel Parish Council and Holmes Chapel Partnership to make this once in a lifetime opportunity for the village as special as possible.

There will be food, drink, entertainment, cycle specific services and activities in the village between 11am and 2pm including:

  • Prime viewing, entertainment, BBQ and cycling activities at the George & Dragon
  • Teas, coffees, sandwiches and cakes at the Methodist Church with all profits going to St Luke’s and East Cheshire hospices
  • Refreshments at St Luke’s Church Hall with all profits to charity
  • BBQ, climbing wall, face painting, artists and other activities at the Scout HQ
  • Fun charity stalls including the Royal British Legion, Sue Ryder, all4U, St Luke’s Hospice in the Precinct
  • Cycle safety by Cheshire Fire Service and bike maintenance by Holmes Chapel Bikes in The Precinct

  • Enjoy the village looking its best thanks to the huge number of businesses that have got involved and decorated their windows orange and the fabulous yarnbombing organised by Molly Mumbles
  • Secure cycle storage with high top quality coffee for a donation, opposite The Precinct
  • Free car parking for hundreds of vehicles accessed via the corner of Manor Lane and Macclesfield Road.

""All this will be supported by our fabulous local radio station, Dane Sound Radio, whose DJs will be located on the route keeping crowds up to date with race progress and playing a great selection of music throughout.

Holmes Chapel will be a great and easy to reach location for fans travelling via the M6, with its location just of Junction 18, or for fans coming from the west of Cheshire and North Wales.  For those on bicycles too there is the great possibility of watching the race in Middlewich, before pedalling along the A54 to Holmes Chape for another glimpse of the action.

Once the race has passed through there will still be plenty of time to head up the A50 to Knutsford to see the finish, either from the Town Centre and CycleFest on the Heath, or heading into Tatton Park itself via the Mere Gate entrance.  For more details please click here.
