Spectators coming to the opening stage of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain in Scotland this September are once again in for an extra treat in Edinburgh.

Following on from the success of last year’s opening stage and mass participation event in Glasgow, on Sunday 3 September Edinburgh is inviting cyclists to take over its streets to build upon having the world’s top professional cyclists in the city in the HSBC UK City Ride.

Stage One will depart from the Royal Mile outside St Giles’ Cathedral at 10:30, completing two laps of a circuit around Johnston Terrace, the Meadows, Buccleuch Street and George IV Bridge, before departing the city via Duddington to Musselburgh.

You can find an interactive map of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain route here and download an ETA timings document.

Once the professional racers are clear of the streets, the circuit will be handed over to cyclists of all ages and abilities to take part in the HSBC UK City Ride.
