The OVO Energy Tour of Britain was today shortlisted as a finalist at the Event Production Awards 2019, which take place in London in March.

Britain’s leading professional cycle race is among eight nominees in the prestigious Sporting Event of the Year category. The winner will be announced at an awards ceremony in Hammersmith on Thursday 14 March.

Won by Quick-Step Floors’ Julian Alaphilippe, the 15th edition of the modern Tour in 2018 attracted a roadside audience of over 1.5 million; featured a world-class field including Geraint Thomas and Chris Froome; and promoted community initiatives such as a National Land Art Competition and British Cycling-run coaching sessions.

This nomination comes a year after the OVO Energy Tour of Britain’s sister race, the OVO Energy Women’s Tour, was named 2018’s Sporting Event of the Year.
