Britain’s biggest cycling race is heading to Worcestershire – and Pershore College is providing the perfect vantage point to watch the action unfold.

Pershore will welcome some of the world’s top cycling talent to the town for a crucial individual time trial stage on day six of the OVO Energy Tour of Britain on Thursday 12 September.

It could prove a race-deciding stage and fans will be able to see each rider pass by on two separate occasions from a viewing point at Pershore College.

The 14.4-kilometre stage allows spectators to see riders tackle the course individually, starting in Pershore, passing through Little Comberton and Bricklehampton in an anti-clockwise loop.

Key spectator information

  • After the stage starts in Pershore town centre, riders will head up Pensham Hill past Pershore College
  • They will then pass the college again on their way back into town on the B4084 – giving spectators a second slice of the action
  • Car parking is available for spectators at Pershore College for just £2 all day, with access to toilets and refreshments at the college
  • Spectators parking at the college will need to arrive before 11:30, with the road re-opening following the stage at 15:30. Pedestrian access to and from Pershore will be available at all times.
  • The garden centre at the college will be open, with juice pressed and bottled in the purpose-built juicing and bottling facility at the college also available.

What they said…

Helen Kinghorn, College Director at Pershore College, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming cycling fans from across country to see the sport’s top stars compete on the roads here in Pershore.

“There will be a fantastic atmosphere along the route and we are hoping to make it particularly special here at the college.

“It is the only point outside of the town centre where you can see the riders go past twice on the loop and we’ll be offering refreshments throughout the day to keep fans fuelled.

“It’s set to be a thrilling day and we’d encourage spectators to join us at Pershore College to enjoy the action.”
