Stage 3 of this year’s Aviva Tour of Britain see’s the riders make their way into Scotland as they head to the Finish at Floors Castle, with plenty of events planned in Kelso to make sure they receive a big Scottish welcome and the whole town gets behind the event.

Kelso Wheelers Cycle Club have organised a host of activities for the weekend of 5th/6th September as the Grand Depart of the Aviva Tour of Britain gets underway in Anglesey, just a couple of days before the race goes north of the border.

On Saturday 5th September there will be a 30-mile road race, an off-road cycle race and a family ride all going on to offer a little something for everyone and start to get people in the mood for the biggest week of cycling in Britain this year.

All of the rides are free to enter and open to anyone who fancies a challenge or a family day out.

The weekend of activity continues into Sunday 6th September with an under-16 cross-country mountain bike race and a 100-mile road race.

The cross-country mountain biking is split into three categories; 8-10yrs, 11-13yrs and 14-16yrs with all abilities welcome to compete. Entry is free for Kelso Wheelers and £2 for non-members.

The biggest event of the weekend see’s the 100-mile road race set off from Kelso Square at 8am. Entry is £5 for adults and free for under-18’s with support vehicles and a café stop included in the cost.

After a weekend of build-up and excitement the Aviva Tour of Britain roles into Kelso on Tuesday 8th September for the Stage 3 Finish at Floors Castle.

Kelso Wheelers will have a trailer at the event next to the finish line where you can come along and learn all about the club and their history as well as checking out a their exciting memorabilia including an original signed jersey from David Moncoutie, King of the Mountains in the Vuelta a Espana for 4 years running.

Not only that but you also have the chance to ride through Kelso just one hour before the world’s best cyclists take to the same roads. A parade of cyclists will make their way through the streets and make their way into Floors Castle shortly before the peloton arrives, just in time to watch the exciting finish of Stage 3. This incredible opportunity is open to anyone with all ages and abilities welcome so be sure not to miss out.
