Ever wondered how Britain’s top domestic riders prepare for the UK’s biggest bike race? All will be revealed in our new video series: the Road to the Tour of Britain.

The series, which will run monthly between now and the start of the 2021 Tour in Cornwall on Sunday 5 September, will document how Ben Healy (TRINITY Racing), Tom Mazzone (Saint Piran), James Shaw (Ribble Weldtite Pro Cycling), Rory Townsend (Canyon dhb SunGod) and Pete Williams (SwiftCarbon Pro Cycling) are doing all they can to be selected to compete in the race.

Of the five riders we’ve followed in 2021, four of them have been selected to race. Townsend is the race’s reigning Eisberg sprints champion, while Shaw comes into his national tour off the back of fifth places in the Tours of Slovenia and Norway.

Healy – the reigning Irish road race champion – and Commonwealth Games rider Mazzone will make their AJ Bell Tour of Britain debuts this year.

Sadly, Williams’ non-selection means that he won’t break the record for competing in more editions of the modern Tour than any other rider (12) this time around.

Additionally, the series will generate extra publicity for the teams and riders, as well as the British racing calendar.

Episodes will be available on the Tour of Britain website, YouTube channel and Facebook.
