Rediscover all the action from the 2006 Tour of Britain, won by CSC ProTeam’s Danish rider Martin Pedersen, with this rarely seen archive footage.

This was the third edition of the modern Tour. Taking place between Tuesday 29 August and Sunday 3 September, it marked the first British stage winner (Roger Hammond in Liverpool), the race’s first stage in Kent and an unforgettable finale on The Mall.

This newly-digitised footage comes from BBC’s iconic Grandstand programme. Highlights of stages one to five were followed by live action of the race’s final in the capital – stage six marked the last live broadcast of the Tour of Britain until the 2012 Grand Départ in East Anglia.

Presented by Jill Douglas, with commentary from Hugh Porter and Chris Boardman.

Stage one: Glasgow to Castle Douglas

Stage two: Blackpool to Liverpool

Stage three: Bradford to Sheffield

Stage four: Wolverhampton to Birmingham
