To celebrate Steve Cummings’ birthday on Thursday (19 March), rediscover all the action from the 2016 Tour of Britain with this stage-by-stage archive footage.

Having placed second overall in 2008 and 2011, the Wirral-born rider finally claimed victory in his home race thanks to a gutsy and tactically-perfect performance across the eight days of racing.

The 2016 Tour of Britain is widely considered one of the best editions of the modern race, with a brilliant performance by Team Sky’s Ian Stannard in our Cheshire East stage, a dramatic finale into Bath won by Jack Bauer, and Dutch climber Wout Poels claiming victory atop Haytor in Devon.

Presented by Matt Barbet, with commentary from Hugh Porter and Brian Smith.
