Explore the OVO Energy Tour of Britain stage four route, taking place between Gateshead and Kendal on Tuesday 10 September, with our animated map.

This stage promises to be one of the toughest days in modern OVO Energy Tour of Britain history, packing in almost 3,000 metres of climbing during its 171.5-kilometre (106-mile) east to west route.

The peloton will pass Anthony Gormley’s world-famous Angel of the North sculpture along the day’s route, which heads into County Durham before crossing the Pennines into Cumbria. The Kendal finish, atop the 500-metre, 11% average gradient climb of Beast Banks, has welcomed the OVO Energy Tour of Britain on three previous occasions.
